APW - Ball Hamilton, Official RR Standard, Grade 998 Elinvar, 23J, 16S, green gold-filled OF Ball Model recase with ornate engraving detail to rear, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#B649070. An attractive example of this top quality Ball Grade, the 998 Elinvar had a total production of 2700 made and was produced between 1939 and 1942.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered specks of oxide to regulator assembly and winding wheels; very near flawless dial has only one short fine surface scratch at 2 visible only at certain angles of light; near mint hands; case shows little wear, some fine scratches on rear, no dents or dings, engraving detail shows some reduction which is most notable at shoulders; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
